About Us
The Network of Journalists Living with HIV (JONEHA) is a national organization, having registered in 2013 under the Trustees Incorporation Act. It is also a member of the Non-Governmental Board, the Council for Non-Governmental Organisations in Malawi (CONGOMA) and the Malawi Network of People Living with HIV (MANET+). The work of JONEHA in the national HIV response is well recognized by UNAIDS, Ministry of health, the National AIDS Commission, Media Council of Malawi and the National Media Institute of Southern Africa (NAMISA). JONEHA membership spreads across the country and works with all national and community media houses in Malawi.

Board Of Directors
The Board of Directors is the highest policy making organ of JONEHA constituted by the Annual General Meeting as informed by provisions in its constitution. The mandate of JONEHA is to mobilize journalists for an HIV responsive media and its audiences. The Secretariat is led by the Executive Director and consists of such other officers necessary for smooth implementation of the strategic plan.
Chairperson - David Mhango
David Mhango is a Malawian who rose from a very humble background to being a trained and experienced professional in the field of Accountancy/Financial field. He has a lot of respect for fellow human beings regardless of their professional, religious, cultural and other backgrounds. He likes seeing himself as a team player and builder, helping individuals achieve their foreseeable potentials. He respects colleagues with different professional backgrounds.
His professional training and experience took him to working and leading at the Audit Consult, the Stewardship Centre Limited, Graham Carr, Leyland DAF (Malawi) Limited and World Vision International (Malawi). He has also served in boards and committees of various companies, NGO’s and the Church.
He continues to desire to make some significant impact to institutions and people around him.
Vice Chairperson - Ambassador Dr. Benson Tembo
Ambassador Dr. Benson Tembo is a broadcast Communications Specialist with four decades of experience. He has served as Director General at the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) and Communications Officer at UNICEF-Malawi. He laid the foundations of the first ever public television in Malawi-Television Malawi (TVM) there on becoming its founding Director General. He was Malawi’s High Commissioner to Kenya and, on non-residential basis to Uganda, Sudan, Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka, and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and UN-Habitat in Gigiri, Nairobi Kenya. He also served as Ambassador to Zimbabwe and High Commissioner on non-residential basis to Botswana. He delivered Digital Migration of Television in Malawi when government seconded him to the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) as Technical Advisor. He was Chairperson of Malawi Housing Corporation Board.
Member - Nickson Ngwira
Nickson Ngwira is an expert Tax lawyer specialized in organization and strategies. He is deeply interested in the legal design and implementation of public governance reforms that can lead to improvements in, and the sustainability of, prosperity for governments and the wellbeing of their citizens. Nickson is a powerful force in the workplace and uses his positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed. He holds a master’s degree in International Business Taxation (LLM) with specialisation in organisation and strategies and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, both from Tilburg University, in the Netherlands.
Member - Rhoda Zulu
Member - George Jobe
George Jobe is a community mobilization specialist and health rights activist with over 20 years of experience. He also has expertise in advocacy, budget analysis, budget tracking, social accountability in health and determinants of health including water and nutrition. He is Executive Director for Malawi Health Equity Network (MHEN); an alliance of over 90 CSOs in the health sector interested in promoting equitable access to quality, affordable and responsive health care services in Malawi through influencing policy formulation, review, and practice. MHEN sits in many committees in the Ministry of Health, which include: The Health Sector Wide Group, Technical Working Groups including health financing and otherss where it has made a lot of constructive contributions. Before joining MHEN, he worked at Creative Centre for Community Mobilization (CRECCOM) for several years where he worked in the fields of education, HIV/AIDS and sexual reproductive health. He holds a Bachelor of Education (Humanities) with a credit, Master of Business Administration, and post graduate Diploma in Public Social Accountability Monitor (PSAM). He also underwent several other post graduate courses such as project management, Advocacy, Social Accountability, Financial Management, Leadership and systems strengthening.
